Queen's House

Queen’s House (여왕의 집) is a 100 episode South Korean daily melodrama which aired on KBS2 from April to September 2025.

Plot

Kang Jae In comes from a wealthy family that owns a large company. She is married to Hwang Gi Chan who has been brainwashed by his mother to believe money is everything. Hwang Gi Chan is desperate and will do anything to take over the company. He is having an affair with Kang Se Ri, Jae In’s best friend from school, who also has ambitions of her own by any means possible. Kim Do Yun is a doctor whose sister works for the company owned by Kang Jae In, she comes across some corruption but her efforts to expose it come to a fatal end.

Cast

Ham Eun Jung (함은정) as Kang Jae In
Not seen this actress in any other dramas. She is very popular and as I write this she is also in another melodrama called First Man.

Seo Joon Young (서준영) as Kim Do Yun
I saw Seo Joon Young for the first time in The Brave Yong Su Jeong. Good to see him in this drama.

Park Yoon Jae (박윤재) as Hwang Gi Chan
He has appeared in numerous other melodramas such as Vengeance of the Bride, Red Shoes, It’s My Life and Unknown Woman.

Lee Ga Ryeong (이가령) as Kang Se Ri
First time I have seen this actress in anything. Her appearance in Netflix drama Dear Hongrang was released virtually in parallel with Queen’s House.

Review

This was one of the best melodrama’s I have seen since Man in a Veil.

The screenwriter Kim Min Ju did a fantastic job with the plot which not only had continuing twists and turns but also kept a fast past from beginning to end. I can only describe it as “all the plots from previous melodrama’s rolled into one”.

I really appreciated how they engaged all the characters and not just the four main ones.

The dementia story was also quite well written and there was things within within that I hadn’t seen anywhere else.

It seems viewers look for a good revenge plot in these melodramas and this was done really well in this series.

The only thing I found annoying was the music at the end. There were about 3 different ending scores, one of them was ok, but the other two didn’t quite fit in.

As I was watching this drama we were having our kitchen and bathroom remodelled. By a very bizarre coincidence our kitchen counter tops matched Queen’s House table tops, and our shower feature wall matched the walls in the rich family’s house. Whenever I am in the kitchen or bathroom I will fondly remember this show.

Summary

Brilliant, a must watch melodrama. 5/5.

Where To Watch

I would recommend watching this on Kocowa but can also be found on Viki.
