Review
I came across this show, not hearing about it before, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of it.
It appeared to be a joint Chinese, Taiwanese and Thai co-production filmed in China. I thought China would be too conservative for this type of LGBTQ production. There were some Thai actors in the show but the main cast was Chinese.
Some of the acting was quite “camp” and over the top but it kind of worked. At first there was some over the top crying [like babies] but when getting used to that style it worked in with the show.
Even though it was billed as a wuxia type show those scenes could have been choreographed in a better way.
Jin Xiao Bao was a bit of playboy with the women. He fell in love with this person who he thought was a girl, then when revealed as a man he still loved him. So I don’t know if the character was bisexual or just developing his likes. Either way, its not good to label him under any category, just gender fluid in what he liked.
The show is only 12 episodes so easily to get through. The final scenes of the last episode were cute, it was a great way to end the series.
Summary
The show had its ups and downs but all in all a good watch.
